2026 Projects
We are proud to announce this year’s projects to these deserving non-profits.
The projects outlined below is what was submitted by the non-profit. Scope of work may change during the weekend as time permits.
Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratory
Mission: Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratory, Inc., is a professional, independent, not-for-profit, publicly supported, research institute dedicated to the discovery of new knowledge regarding the causes, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cancer. Because the Laboratory is a not-for-profit enterprise, no organization or individual profits financially from its operation, and all discoveries resulting from ongoing research are freely given to the scientific and medical community through promptly reported peer-reviewed publications.
Project Details: This project involves picking up where a previous student-led initiative left off. While generic wireframes are already in place, the organization needs team members to build a functional, professional site using either custom HTML/CSS or WordPress. The primary requirement is a solution that remains simple enough for non-technical staff members to manage and update content independently.
National Commission for Black Art & Entertainment
Mission: To convene, connect, and celebrate Black creatives in the art and entertainment industry while building bridges between the genres and using art as a tool for community impact.
Project Details: Redesign and simplify a WordPress site to ensure it accurately reflects current programs, as the current technical friction recently led to a denied grant opportunity. The current administrator is a “team of one” who needs a streamlined, intuitive backend to keep content updated without needing a developer for every post.
Super Heroines, Etc.
Mission: We use the power of fandom to create a community that advocates for inclusive equity and representation.
Project Details: The objective is to build a community engagement platform that gamifies local activism and charity. The system will feature a “Quest Board” where volunteers select tasks—ranging from civic engagement, such as contacting state representatives, to direct aid, like food pantry donations. Volunteers will receive points for their efforts. Points would become SHE merch or other donated items.
Autism Connections
Mission: Uplifting the Southwest Ohio autism community through education, resources, connections, and lifelong support.
Project Details: The goal is to design and implement a robust tracking system for the largest autism helpline in SW Ohio, which manages over 700 annual inquiries. The current lack of a centralized database makes it difficult to track repeat callers, record demographic data (such as zip codes), or log the specific resources provided. This project focuses on building a solution that replaces cumbersome, manual processes with an efficient searchable record of individual caller histories.
Giving Voice Foundation
Vision: A dementia community where no one feels alone.
Mission: Build connections to support all impacted by dementia.
Project Details: The current website needs a complete refresh to accomade it’s many different users, and the internal team is struggling to manage participant and donor data across four separate, disconnected platforms: an online donation portal, FastFund [bookkeeping], Mailchimp, and Givebutter (fundraising platform). Team members will help refresh the web presence and find a way to sync or consolidate the backend tools to reduce manual administrative work.
